What is Novel Coronavirus?

Novel Coronavirus (also called COVID - 19) is very dangerous and contagious virus which belongs to the family of Coronaviridae was discovered in Wuhan,China about 3 months ago. Now it has spread to  all the continents except Antarctica. It has caused a worldwide panic and has about 132,567 confirmed cases, has caused about 4,947 deaths and is spread in about 123 countries (statistics according to WHO).

How did Novel Coronavirus originate?

There are many theories related to origin of COVID - 19. Some of them are listed below -

1. The virus was being developed by a group of scientists in a level 4 (the highest biosafety level) research laboratory in Wuhan. It and then escaped or leaked because of poor safety protocol.
2. The virus was being studied in the lab (after being isolated from animals) and  then escaped or leaked because of poor safety protocol. The emergence of the virus in the same city as China’s only level 4 biosafety lab, it turns out, is pure coincidence.
3. The third rumor was being circulated by many people in China on social network for weeks. The spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, Zhao Lijian, tweeted yesterday that the virus might have been brought by the U.S. military who attended the 7th Military World Games in  Wuhan, where this virus first broke out.
