International Pi Day | 14 March | Reason behind celebrating Pi day

International Pi Day

What is Pi ?

Pi (π) is a Greek mythological character. In the world of mathematics Pi refers to circumference / diameter ( 22/7 ) of a circle. And the fact is that whether the circle is too big or too small the value of Pi is always the same. The only condition is the circle should be perfect.

Why did we choose this day to celebrate International Pi Day ?

We celebrate Pi day because the value of is 3.14159265359... and the first two numbers of the value are 3 and 14. So that means 14th of the 3rd month i.e March. So, the question is why do we celebrate it ? I mean, there are thousands of other values , why don't we celebrate those days ?

The reason behind celebrating International  Pi day?

The reason behind celebrating International Pi Day is that great German born - physicist Albert Einstein was born on this date and theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who was director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge Stephen William Hawking Died on this date. This may be a coincidence but the one which can not be neglected.

  1. It is very useful information. I think that we should celebrate it on this day because of these two reasons. Thank you for this useful information and for telling us about it.
